There’s something about the middle of August that feels different. Summer is still here. The sun is still shining, the days are still warm, and there is still time to enjoy everything this season brings. But at the same time, you can almost feel life beginning to shift. School supplies are filling the stores again. Families are preparing to get back into their routines. Vacations are wrapping up, schedules are changing, and those long summer evenings are slowly getting shorter. It’s that little space between enjoying what’s left and preparing for what’s next. And maybe that’s why this Wednesday feels like the perfect time for a different kind of midweek reset. Not one focused on doing more. One focused on making sure we don’t enter our next season already exhausted.

Summer Can Be Draining Too

We talk so much about summer being the season to relax, travel and enjoy life, but summer can actually be busy. As a mom, I know that firsthand. There are kids to keep busy, places to go, work, responsibilities, appointments, goals and everything else that doesn’t magically disappear because the weather is beautiful. And when you’re trying to enjoy your life while also building your life, it can become exhausting without you even realizing it. That’s usually when Wednesday hits differently. You started Monday motivated. Tuesday came and you kept going. By Wednesday, you might be moving a little slower and wondering where all that energy went.

I’ve learned that when I start feeling like that, I don’t always need more motivation. Sometimes I need to check in with myself.

Before You Push Yourself, Ask Yourself What You Need

We have become so used to pushing through everything. Tired? Keep going. Overwhelmed? Keep going. Mentally drained? Keep going. But constantly pushing isn't the same thing as being productive. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do in the middle of your week is recognize that your energy needs attention. For me, resetting can be something as simple as making a cup of tea, stepping outside for some fresh air, getting off my phone for a while, journaling, praying or giving myself a quiet moment before jumping into the next thing. Other days, my reset is the complete opposite. Sometimes I know I've rested enough and what I really need is to get up and move. Clean the room. Take the walk .Finish the assignment. Answer the email. Put the laundry away. Handle the thing I've been putting off. Because protecting your energy doesn't always mean resting. Sometimes it means removing the things that are weighing on you.

Don't Wait Until You're Completely Drained

This is something I'm carrying with me into the next season. I don't want to wait until I'm exhausted to take care of myself. I don't want to wait until everything feels overwhelming before I slow down. And I definitely don't want to walk into a new season carrying the same habits that drained me in the last one.

That's why these little midweek check-ins matter. Wednesday gives us an opportunity to ask ourselves:

How am I really feeling this week?

What is taking most of my energy?

Is there something I need to let go of?

Do I need rest, or do I need to get moving again?

What would make the rest of this week feel lighter?

You don't have to completely change your life today.

Sometimes one small adjustment is enough to change the direction of your entire week.

What Will Your Next Season Bring?

As summer begins to wind down, I've also been thinking about fall and everything a new season represents.

There's something beautiful about watching nature change. The temperature shifts. Leaves change colors. The air feels different. Everything around us reminds us that change is natural. Maybe we should give ourselves that same permission to change. The person who entered summer doesn't have to be the same person who walks into fall. Maybe this next season is about becoming more disciplined. Maybe it's about finally starting something you've been afraid to begin. Maybe it's about slowing down. Maybe it's about going back to school, starting a new career, growing your business, being more present with your children, taking better care of yourself or simply finding your peace again. Your next season doesn't have to look like anyone else's. And you don't need to have everything figured out before you enter it. You just need to be willing to grow with it.

Leave Some Things in Summer

Before we rush into pumpkin season, sweaters, cooler mornings and everything we love about fall, maybe we should decide what isn't coming with us. The unnecessary pressure. The comparison. The procrastination.

The need to have everything perfect. The habit of pouring into everyone while leaving ourselves empty.

The guilt we carry when we rest. The goals that no longer fit who we're becoming. Not everything deserves access to your next season. Some things served their purpose. Some things taught you something. And some things simply need to stay behind.

Your Wednesday Energy Reset

So if you're reading this in the middle of a long week and you're already tired, don't count yourself out.

Your week isn't over. Take a moment today and do something that gives a little energy back to you. Drink your water. Make your tea. Take the walk. Put the phone down. Sit outside. Pray. Journal. Turn the music up. Clean your space. Finish one thing you've been avoiding. Then ask yourself what you actually need for the rest of this week. Not what social media says you should be doing. Not what everybody else seems to be accomplishing.

What do you need? Because sometimes picking your energy back up isn't about finding some huge burst of motivation. It's about doing one small thing that reminds you:

I'm still here. I'm still moving. And I can keep going.

A New Season Is Coming

Summer isn't over yet, so enjoy what's left of it. Enjoy the sunshine. Enjoy the evenings.

Enjoy the memories that haven't even been made yet. But while you're enjoying it, start preparing yourself mentally and emotionally for what's coming next. You don't have to race into your next season.

You don't have to have every detail planned. And you definitely don't have to enter it exhausted.

Take what helped you grow. Leave behind what drained you. And walk forward knowing there is still so much of this year left to experience. Wednesday isn't the end of your energy. It's your opportunity to reset it.

So take what you need from today. Rest if you need rest. Move if you need movement.

Refocus if you've gotten distracted. And then keep going. Because sometimes a changing season isn't life telling us that something good is ending.

Sometimes it's life reminding us that something new is about to begin.

A Little Midweek Reminder

Don't drain yourself trying to finish one season when you're going to need your energy for the next one.

Protect your peace. Pick your energy back up. Enjoy what's left of summer.

And get ready for what's next.

Love It More.
