Sunday Reset: Last Week Is Over… We Get to Try Again 🌿

This Sunday feels a little different for me. I woke up thinking about last week and everything I wanted to accomplish. Some things I got done. Some things I didn’t. And if I’m being real, there were moments when I felt like I could have done more. Maybe I could have studied longer. Maybe I could have been more consistent.
Maybe I could have checked another thing off my list. Maybe I could have managed my time a little better.
But then I had to remind myself of something that I think somebody else needs to hear today too:
The week is over.
I can’t go back and change what I didn’t do. What I CAN do is decide what I’m going to do next. And that is what my Sunday Reset is about. It’s not about beating myself up over where I fell short. It’s about looking at where I am, giving myself grace, and saying, “Okay, we get another shot at this.” Because we do. And this week?
We’re about to rock it. I’m Starting With My Mind đź§
One thing I’ve learned about myself is that when I have too much on my mind, everything starts feeling harder than it actually is. I start thinking about what I need to do today, what needs to happen next week, what I need to accomplish next month, and where I want to be six months from now. Before I know it, I’m overwhelmed before I even start. So this Sunday, I’m bringing myself back to right now. I’m asking myself:
What are the three things I really need to focus on this week?
Just three. I don’t need to figure out my entire life today. I just need to take care of the next step. And maybe you need that reminder too. If you didn’t accomplish everything you wanted to last week, don’t spend this week punishing yourself for it. Take the lesson. Adjust the plan. And try again.
Then I Reset My Body 🌿
My reset isn’t only about writing goals down. Sometimes my body is telling me I need a reset before my mind even realizes it. So I try to use Sunday to slow things down. I drink my water. I make myself some tea. I try to get outside, even if it’s just for a little while. I stretch. I prepare myself for the week. I think about what I’m going to eat, what needs to be done around the house, and what I can do tonight that will make Monday morning easier. And sometimes resetting my body simply means resting without feeling guilty about it. We live in a world that makes us feel like we always have to be doing something. Working, Cleaning, Studying, Parenting, Planning, and Building. Trying to reach the next goal. But sometimes the most productive thing you can do is give your body a chance to recharge. Because I don’t want to walk into Monday already exhausted from Sunday.
And Then I Check In With My Soul 🤍
This part matters to me. I need quiet. Even if it’s only a few minutes. I need time to pray, think, journal, sit with my tea, or just be still without everybody needing something from me. Because sometimes the biggest reset isn’t around us.
It’s within us.
I ask myself what I need to let go of before Monday comes. Fear? Doubt? Overthinking? Something somebody said?
Something that didn’t work out? Something I can’t control? I don’t want to carry unnecessary weight into a brand new week. So I remind myself:
What happened last week happened. I’m still here. I still have goals. I still have purpose. And I still have another opportunity to move forward.
That alone is something to be grateful for.
Now Mama Has Another Reset to Work On
As a mom, my Sunday Reset isn’t just about me. Because school is coming. And I already know I do NOT want to wait until the night before school starts to suddenly tell my child, “Okay, bedtime is early tonight!” After weeks of summer freedom? Yeah… no. That sounds like stress I can avoid. So I’m starting to slowly bring structure back into our days now. Nothing extreme. Just little things. Going to bed a little earlier. Waking up a little earlier. Getting back into a morning routine. Adding some reading time into the day. Getting used to preparing things the night before. I want the transition back to school to feel exciting instead of like summer suddenly came to a screeching halt. And I think sometimes, as parents, we forget that our kids need a reset too. Their bodies have gotten used to summer. Their minds have gotten used to summer. Their schedules have definitely gotten used to summer. So instead of turning it into, “Summer is over, time to get serious,” I want to make it something positive. “We’re getting ourselves ready for a great school year.” Let them pick out some supplies.
Let them help organize their school space. Start a little reading challenge. Talk about what they’re excited about.
And slowly bring that bedtime back. Because I already know one thing…
The more prepared my child is, the less stressed I’m going to be.
And I’m all for anything that prevents me from yelling, “WHERE ARE YOUR SHOES?!” at 7 in the morning.
So This Sunday, I’m Choosing to Begin Again 🌻
I don’t know what you fell short on last week. Maybe you missed a workout. Maybe you didn’t study like you planned.
Maybe you spent money you were trying to save. Maybe you didn’t work on your business. Maybe your house got a little out of control. Maybe you weren’t as patient as you wanted to be. Maybe you were simply tired. Whatever it was…
Last week does not get to decide how this week goes.
You do. You don’t need to wait until next month. You don’t need to wait until Monday morning. And you definitely don’t need to wait until January 1st to become serious about something again. You can start again today. That’s what a reset means to me. Not pretending last week didn’t happen. Not pretending everything is perfect. But looking at myself and saying:
Okay. That didn’t go exactly how I wanted it to go. What am I going to do differently this time?
That’s growth. So today I’m resetting my home. Resetting my body. Clearing my mind. Pouring into my soul. Getting my child back into a routine. Writing down my three goals. And preparing myself to walk into this new week with intention. Because I may have fallen short on a few things last week…
But I didn’t quit.
And neither should you. Tomorrow we get another chance. Another Monday. Another week. Another opportunity to get a little closer to the person we’re becoming. So get your rest. Drink your water. Say your prayer. Write down your goals. Get those babies ready. And give yourself permission to start again.
Last week is done. A new week is here.
And baby… WE’RE ABOUT TO ROCK IT. 💪🏽🤎✨
Let’s Talk 💠Before you leave, I want you to answer this:
What is ONE thing you fell short on last week that you’re giving yourself another chance to accomplish this week?
No judgment. No beating ourselves up.
We’re resetting together. 🌿🤎
